Terms of Service
Effective date: October 20, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Better Interactive Inc., a corporation incorporated under the laws of Canada and based in Alberta ("we", "us"), for the Better Lights apps for iPhone, iPad and Android, the web app at app.betterlights.app and the website betterlights.app (together, the "Service"). Contact: support@betterlights.app.
1. Accepting these terms
By using the Service you agree to these terms and acknowledge our Privacy Policy. If you use the Service for a company, you confirm you're authorized to accept these terms for it, and "you" includes the company. You must be at least 18, or the age of majority where you live.
2. Accounts and team workspaces
You can use the editor without an account. If you create one, keep your sign-in secure and tell us about any unauthorized use. You're responsible for activity under your account.
In a company workspace, the company's owners and admins control membership, roles, the shared price list, branding, AI credit limits and billing. Projects in a company workspace belong to the company. If you're removed from a workspace or leave it, you lose access to its projects.
3. Plans, trials and payments
- Subscriptions renew automatically for the same period (monthly or yearly) until you cancel. Cancel at any time; your plan stays active until the end of the period you've paid for.
- App Store and Google Play purchases are billed by Apple or Google under their terms. Manage, cancel and request refunds for them in your store account.
- Web purchases are billed by Stripe on our behalf. Manage them under Plans › Manage billing in the web app. Prices are shown in US dollars and exclude taxes, which are added where required.
- Refunds: except where the law requires otherwise, payments are non-refundable and we don't refund partial periods. If you think you were charged in error, contact us.
- Consumers in the EU and UK have 14 days after a web purchase to withdraw. By starting to use paid features during that time you ask us to begin the service right away; if you then withdraw, we'll refund the payment minus the value of the service provided until then.
- Trials: when a trial requires a payment method, it converts to a paid plan at the end unless you cancel before then. A trial is available once per person, company and device.
- Price changes: we'll give at least 30 days' notice before a price increase applies to your subscription. It takes effect at your next renewal, and you can cancel before then.
4. AI credits
AI renders use credits. Plans include a monthly allowance (also on yearly plans); unused monthly credits roll over for one month. Credit packs don't expire while your account exists and are used after your monthly allowance. Credits are charged only for renders that complete; if a render fails, the credits are released. Credits have no cash value, can't be transferred or exchanged for money, and end when your account is deleted. We may set reasonable daily limits to protect the Service.
5. Your content
You keep all rights to the photos, projects, quotes and other content you put into the Service ("your content"). You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, process, transmit and display your content only as needed to provide and secure the Service, for example to sync it, create AI renders and send quotes you ask us to send. This license ends when you delete your content or account, except for copies in backups, which expire as described in the Privacy Policy, and content you've shared with others.
You're responsible for your content. Only upload photos and enter customer information you have the right to use, and comply with the privacy laws that apply to your customers' information.
6. Previews, measurements and AI renders
Lighting previews and AI renders are illustrations. They may not match the actual installation, colors, brightness, product availability or appearance. Lengths and light counts estimated from a photo are approximate; measure on site before ordering or installing. AI renders may contain errors or unexpected details. Quotes you create and send are between you and your customer, and you're responsible for their prices, terms and accuracy.
7. Acceptable use
Don't use the Service to break the law or infringe anyone's rights; upload unlawful, deceptive or harmful content; try to get around plan limits, credit limits, trials or security; access the Service with bots or scrapers beyond normal use; reverse engineer it except where the law allows; or resell or sublicense access. We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these rules.
8. Our service
We own the Service, including the software, design and the Better Lights name and logo. We give you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use it under these terms. If you send us feedback, we may use it without obligation to you.
We work to keep the Service available and improve it, which means features can change. We may change or stop parts of the Service; if we stop a paid feature you rely on, we'll give you reasonable notice and refund prepaid amounts for the unused period where appropriate. Beta features are provided as is and may change or end at any time.
The Service relies on third parties such as Apple, Google, Stripe and our AI providers. Their services are governed by their own terms.
9. Ending the service
You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if required by law, or to protect the Service or other users. Where reasonable, we'll tell you first. Sections 5 (for the license period described there), 6, 10, 11, 12 and 13 survive the end of these terms.
10. Disclaimers
To the extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement and accuracy. We don't guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that previews, measurements or renders will be accurate.
11. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, we won't be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, business or data, even if we were told they were possible. Our total liability for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose and US$100.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, such as liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or your rights as a consumer under the mandatory laws of where you live.
12. Indemnity
If you use the Service for a business, you'll defend and indemnify us against third-party claims arising from your content, your quotes or dealings with your customers, or your breach of these terms, and pay the resulting costs and damages, including reasonable legal fees.
13. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods doesn't apply. You and we agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Alberta, except that either of us may bring a claim in small claims court where it qualifies.
If you're a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country, province or state where you live, and you may bring a claim in its courts.
Please contact us first: most concerns can be resolved quickly by email.
14. Apple App Store
If you got the app from the Apple App Store: these terms are between you and us, not Apple, and we, not Apple, are responsible for the app and its content. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any); to the extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple isn't responsible for any claims relating to the app, including product liability claims, claims that the app fails to meet legal or regulatory requirements, consumer protection or privacy claims, or claims that the app infringes someone's intellectual property; we are responsible for investigating, defending, settling and discharging such claims as these terms provide. You confirm that you're not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you're not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
15. General
These terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service. If a provision is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. If we don't enforce a provision, we haven't waived it. You may not transfer these terms without our consent; we may transfer them as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets. Neither of us is liable for delays caused by events beyond reasonable control.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We'll post the new version here and update the effective date, and for material changes we'll tell you in the app or by email at least 30 days before they take effect. If you keep using the Service after that, the new terms apply; if you don't agree, stop using the Service and cancel your plan.
